Download our whole new album now — for FREE!

Here’s the news: WE HAVE A NEW FULL-LENGTH ALBUM! It’s out in the world! Right now!
Sorry for shouting, but we’ve waited and worked a very long time to say that.
We are pleased and proud to tell you that we’re teaming up with the fine folks at Paper + Plastick to bring you “One More Time, All Together Now…” — 12 finely crafted songs about love and death and monsters and Elvis and deindustrialization and circuses and Walter Benjamin’s theses on the philosophy of history. Something for everyone!
A physical LP release will be coming in the near future, but right now, you can download the whole thing for FREE at:
http://www.freemusicfirst.org/picks/2-empty-orchestra-one-more-time-all-together-now

Now, since the record is free and all, you may be asking yourself, “But how can I help?”
I’m glad you asked. Your support is crucial here. We want to get the word out to as many people as we possibly can about this album. So please — download the HELL out of it. Recommend that everyone you know and love download it. Recommend that they also “like” us on Facebook (www.facebook.com/emptyorchestra). Tweet it. Blog it. Talk about it loudly in public. Product-place us in your major motion pictures. Anything you can do to help us promote this helps, and we appreciate it.
We’re excited about this, and we hope everyone else is, too.
xo,
EO

Crooked Limbs / Barely There

The new 7″ is officially off to the pressing plant! Release details (and maybe some pics of the vinyl being pressed) will be coming soon, but in the meantime, we thought we’d give you the actual song titles and some scans of the lyric sheets from the studio. (Because we’re too lazy to actually type all of the lyrics out? Because they look cooler? It’s 50/50.)
xo,
EO

New 7″ Artwork

The cover art for our upcoming 7″ is in, and we think the amazing Dave Kloc has really outdone himself on this one. The physical record cover will be die-cut (the sun will actually be a hole, with the band name showing through from a panel beneath), and we couldn’t be more excited with how it’s all coming together.

Thanks again to all of you who contributed to the Kickstarter fund, and look for the release in the next couple months!

(Also, make time to check out all of Dave Kloc’s artwork HERE. You’ll be glad you did.)

HELP US FUND / PRE-ORDER A BRAND NEW 7″

Hi Friends -
Today we launched a kickstarter page to make a new 7″ – a couple months ago, we went into the studio in Chicago to make a handful of new songs with the incomparable Mark Michalik, and now we want to get them into your hands & earholes ASAP. There’s some exciting and adorable incentives, so please check it out here & consider funding / pre-ordering:
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2075939121/empty-orchestra-new-7
This will actually be the first release by a new label project that will be supporting all kinds of MI artists, so every funding dollar you contribute will also be going toward a long-term cultural vision. Sound pretentious? Good! We appreciate your support.
xo, EO

of videorecodings, live performance, and Gainesville, Florida

a couple weeks ago, just as the Michigan weather was taking a turn into autumn, we filmed a video for a new song called “Broken Record” with our good friends Matt Barth.  we hung out in downtown Flint and pretended to play and sing in fields, burned-down buildings and not-burned-down buildings, and it was a lot of fun.  here’s a family portrait!
what’s next? fun in the sun.
we’re going to be joining literally hundreds of sweet bands in Gainesville, Florida this halloween weekend for The Fest 9. don’t know what that means? go HERE to find out, and consider picking up a plane ticket immediately.
if you can’t meet us in Florida, try Kalamazoo, Michigan — we’ll be playing with Lucero on 10/22, and we have the tickets to prove it. if you need one, just leave a comment.
happy trails!

a busy month

so yesterday, we spent the day in the studio with our old friend Marc Hudson, recording a brand new song for the forthcoming Flint Local 432 “Yestermorrow” benefit compilation. the song is called “Wish Me Luck,” and we’re all really excited about how it went down. maybe i’ll get around to posting lyrics or something soon, but in the meantime, you can check out the compilation project here.  here’s a couple studio shots, including one of Pam playing her new crazy-ass vintage upright accordion:

you can also likely hear it at one of our upcoming shows later this month — we’re playing Mt. Pleasant on 9/23 and Lansing on 9/24 (check out the links for all the ins and outs).
as if that weren’t enough, we’re shooting a new music video next weekend with our lovely and talented friend Matt Barth for “Broken Record,” the first song off our finished-but-still-not-sure-how-it’s-being-released new album.  look for a lot of gauzy, soft-focus shots to camouflage our mediocre looks.  except for John, he’s been growing a super sweet beard all summer and looks fantastic.
